This article is an expansion of the Create a new RTB campaign article and gives more details about the Supply section in the targeting option.
Category targeting enables you to target on the categories passed by the SSP/publisher. These categories refer to the IAB categories which are defined on contextual content. You can find the full IAB taxonomy here.
The quality of the categorization varies per SSP. Google and Appnexus have regulated processes to audit traffic, smaller SSPs often leave the categorization up to the publisher. You are able to include or exclude both tier 1 and tier 2 IAB categories. If you would like to target a tier 1 category select "Top Categories" from the dropdown menu, for tier 2 categories please select "Sub Categories".
You can then select the specific category you require in the dropdown menu below. The selected categories will be marked in green and will show up at the bottom. Selecting multiple categories is possible and you can specify the inclusion/exclusion via the slider.
We are connected to more than 50 ad exchanges and there you can select which ad exchange you want your campaign to run on. You can include/exclude ad exchanges via the slider and making multiple selections is possible. If you do not select any ad exchange your campaign will automatically run on all available ad exchanges. If you need any advice on which ad exchange might be best for your campaign please contact Yieldr support.
Here you are able to choose publishers you want to target for your campaigns. You can find your publisher by typing its name or the publisher ID. As you can see in the screengrab below, publishers might use various SSPs to distribute their inventory. Please make sure you select all relevant publisher/SSP combinations for your campaign. And note that not all SSPs disclose their publishers’ names to us. These unmapped publishers are not available for targeting.
If you want to drill down one more level, you can also specify the site you would like to target. Type in the site name or site ID and select the sites you would like to target from the drop down menu. As in the publisher category only sites which are disclosed by the SSP and mapped with a site ID are available for targeting.
You can choose global or private deals to target your campaigns on.
Global deals are deals which were set up without any advertiser restriction whereas private deals were closed for specific advertisers. Deals that you set up for your seat will automatically show up as a private deal. Global deals are deals set up by Yieldr for all of our clients so you are welcome to select those as well. You can select multiple deals and you can also combine global and private deals if required.
You can select a specific domain list previously created with a selection of domains to target or exclude from your campaign. You will most likely create a domain list to make sure that your campaign is running on very specific inventory or also, that you can exclude very specific inventory. Creating a domain list is recommended when you will use the same domain targeting/exclusion for several campaigns. You can find out how to create domain lists here.
You can select specific domains directly to target or exclude from your campaign. You can select specific domains here for the same reason as above in the domain list section. The advantage of creating a domain list though is that you can save it and use it for different campaigns. You can add a maximum of 25 domains, the prefix www is not required.
